Google AdSense Auto ads: everything you need to know

Google AdSense Auto ads: everything you need to know

Google AdSense is one of the best advertising programs in this world. Although there are multiple alternatives, none of them have consistently outperformed AdSense in terms of innovation, ease of use, and overall experience.

On February 21, 2018, the AdSense team launched Google Auto Ads for Everyone. This is one of the biggest innovations from the AdSense team in recent times. In fact, Auto ads are expected to change the way you use AdSense all this time.

One of the biggest concerns of most AdSense publishers is ad placement, ad optimization, and maintaining an enjoyable user experience.

Google Auto Ads uses artificial intelligence to automatically manage ad placements and optimize ads for publishers. However, as a publisher, you can manage:

General settings: which ads to display

Domain-based setting: Configure which ads should be shown on a specific domain or subdomain

Directory settings: This is the type of ads that will be shown in a specific directory. For example, on pagination pages or archive pages, you may not want to display identical content ads, and you can configure them from the AdSense settings panel. This feature is called advanced URL settings.

So far, we have mixed user reviews about Auto Ads. However, I am optimistic about the future of Auto AdSense ads; It will take the pain out of ad optimization and the blogger can focus on building the content while AdSense takes care of everything else. Google AdSense has always been a place-and-run advertising program, but now it’s completely automatic. Thanks to artificial intelligence.

Important things to know about Auto AdSense ads

Auto ads will not be a problem for anyone using Google AdSense. However, before you start setting up Auto ads, here are a few things you should know. This will also answer your questions before you start merging.

If you have already placed AdSense ads on your blog, you can decide not to remove them. Auto AdSense ads will automatically detect those ads and place more ads accordingly

Are you already using Anchor or Vignette ads? Auto ads include static ads, verbatim ads, and many other additional formats such as text ads, display ads, in-content ads, and matched content ads. Note that all users using page-level ads will automatically be migrated to Auto ads without having to add code to their page. However, logging into your AdSense account and setting up the Auto ads general settings for the first time is a good idea.

How to Enable Google AdSense Auto ads (Full Guide)

Log in to your Google AdSense account

Go to My ads > Auto ads

Click on “Set up Auto ads”

Enable automatically gets new layouts at the bottom.

Click Save.

Now place ad codes on every page of your blog/website. I use Google Tag Manager for the same. You can use whatever technology works for you. If you are already using page level ads, you don’t need to do anything.

You can always check how Google Auto ads are performing by going to My ads > Auto ads and clicking on “Insights”.

Overall, it will be interesting to see how Google Auto ads perform in the future. So far, we’re getting mixed reviews. One user complained of seven ads on one of his articles!

But as I said before, with time this will be something everyone will get used to and since it uses machine learning (artificial intelligence) it will only get better with time.

Tell us your experience with Auto AdSense ads. Have you already implemented it? If not, when do you plan to implement it? Feel free to ask questions and share your experience. You can also interact with other users.
